Not your typical spring break

The Gu3 Five is hitting the road again - well, 4 of us are. Unfortunately, Bill cannot get off from work this year, so it is just the kids and me. We will miss Bill, but we are looking forward to a really good time.

So, where are we off to this time? Not Florida with half of our friends and not skiing either, although Beaver Creek was among the final destinations we considered. In the end we chose Arkansas. Yeah, not your typical spring break destination, but a friend and her family went to a the Horseshoe Canyon Dude Ranch last year and they have not stopped talking about it.

wrote about their trip for Chicago Parent magazine. When presented with the chance to ride, rock climb and try zip lining, my kids didn't give another ski trip a second thought.

So, Horseshoe Canyon Ranch.

We are driving again, like we did last year, and making some stops on the way there and back. Our first two days we are staying in St. Louis, MO, a city that I have never visited. On our way home we are visiting my friend Tiffany Korte and her family on their farm in southern Illinois and while in the area we will visit the Superman museum and the do some hiking in the Shawnee National National Forest.
